The American Samoa Community College (ASCC) visited Parliament on Friday, 13th March 2015 even though Parliament was not in session at the time.
More than 20 ASCC business students and lecturer traveled to Samoa on an educational excursion to learn about the System of Government in Samoa as part of the Management Course requisites. Their visit to Parliament in particular was to learn about the procedures of the Parliament of Samoa in comparison to the policies and procedures of the American Samoa Fono.
The visitors were briefed by the Chamber and Community Outreach divisions on the various functions of Parliament. This visit coincides with the ongoing initiative by the Office of the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly to educate and engage the community on Parliament processes thus enhancing public awareness as a tool to promote democracy and good governance as well as understanding the importance of participating in the law making process of Samoa.
