Australia-Samoa Parliament Partnership Seminar

On the 28th of September 2016, the Office of the Legislative Assembly of Samoa and the Australian Department of the House of Representatives, hosted its first seminar for Parliamentarians and Secretariat at the Orator Hotel, Tanumapua.

The three days seminar was part of the “Australia-Samoa Parliament Partnership Seminar Series” that focus on areas to improve support services, as well as aiding of Members of Parliamentary Committees on techniques to successfully achieving their work in Parliament.

The seminar facilitators presented papers on the theme, “Leading and Participating in Parliamentary Committees”, which follow by discussions that focuses on the roles of Parliamentary Committees, with emphasis on improving its roles and duties.

Facilitators for the seminar include Prof. Richard Herr of the University of Tasmania, Ms. Anna Burke – former Speaker of the Australian of Representatives, and representatives from the Department of the Australian House of Representatives Staff.
