The Office of the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly is under new leadership following the appointment of former Clerk, Afioga Fepuleai Letufuga Attila M. Ropati, to President of the Land and Titles Court.
Susuga Charlene Malele succeeded as new Clerk of the Legislative Assembly on 1st August 2016. She has been working in the Office Legislative Assembly for more than 20 years; she started as a Hansard Editor, providing verbatim account of parliament proceedings. Susuga Carlene Malele later became the Deputy Clerk, of which she served for 15 years before her appointment as Clerk. The position of Clerk of the Legislative Assembly is a constitutional position under the “Constitution of the Independent State of Samoa”; other constitutional positions include the Head of State, Speaker & Deputy-Speaker, Auditor General and Ombudsman.
Tofa Leatisa Uitime Tala was appointed as Deputy Clerk of the Legislative Assembly on 12th August 2016. Tofa Leatisa had been working in the Office for more than 15 years, where he first worked at the Chamber and Procedure Office and later on at the Parliamentary Committee Office. Prior to his appointment, Tofa Leatisa was the Manager of the Community & Relation Services division.
