The staff of the Office of the Clerk completed the second unit to the Parliamentary Law, Practice and Procedure course with a graduation held at the Offices new location at the Media Centre – Tuanaimato on 28 January, 2016. The first unit was completed in the year 2014.
Keynote speaker was the UNDP Resident Representative, Ms Lizbeth Cullity who congratulated the students and lecturers for their remarkable efforts.
For new staff, this is only the first part to completing the course. They were awarded with Parliamentary Law, Practice and Procedure Certificates. Nine of the staff are now enrolled in (LAW703), 5 in (LAW702) and 3 Undergrads (LAW527). The program is facilitated by Professor Richard Herr and funded by the Government of Samoa.
The staff that completed both courses received a Graduate Certificate in Parliamentary Law and Practice. Certificates were presented by the Member of the Legislative Council in Tasmania, Honorable Kerry Finch.
Discussions are currently underway between the Office and the University to allow the staff that completed both courses to enroll in a Graduate Diploma in Public Policy.
