Representatives from the Chinese Embassy and the Parliament of Samoa gathered at Parliament precincts on Monday 23 January 2017, for the official handover of office equipment donated by the People’s Republic of China.
The Chinese Ambassador to Samoa, His Excellency (H.E) Wang Xuefeng presented the gifts on behalf of the Standing Committee National People’s Congress. The container of office equipment which arrived early 2017, was promised to the Samoan Parliament by the Chinese delegation led by H.E Zhang Baowen on their visit to Parliament on 16th September 2016.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Samoa, Hon. Leaupepe Taimaaiono Toleafoa Faafisi and Deputy Speaker, Naifotoa Talaimanu Keti accepted the gift on behalf of the Parliament of Samoa. Mr. Speaker acknowledged that China has never failed to lend a helping hand whenever the Parliament of Samoa needs it. He also added that the gifts will provide technical support for Members of Parliament and the Legislative staff.
The donation from the Peoples Republic of China consisted of 50 laptops, 5 office printers and other technical facilities.
