Parliamentary Reporters Handbook Workshop

The Office of the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly in partnership with the Journalist Association of Western Samoa hosted a workshop this morning to discuss the very first Parliamentary Reporters’ Handbook developed by JAWS (Journalists Association of Western Samoa), the Samoa Legislative Assembly and PACMAS (Pacific Media Assistance Scheme).

The handbook is a practical guide for reporters assigned to cover Parliamentary sittings. It also sets out how Parliament works, its procedures and the main players. Participants in this workshop also got a journalist’s perspective on how to navigate Parliament as they plan their stories.

The workshop was led by both Mr. Steve Chase (member of PACMAS) and Lesa Yonita Tuia (Deputy Clerk of the Legislative Assembly)
