Parliament of Samoa Legislative Assembly
A formal ceremony was held this Tuesday morning the 18th of October 2022, to re-inaugurate His Highness, Afioga Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II as the re-appointed Head of State of the Independent State of Samoa for the next 5 years. The re-appointment of Afioga Tuimalealiifano as Head of State, was confirmed by the Legislative Assembly at its meeting on the 23rd August 2022.
Father Louis Anthony Mataia Europa II delivered a spiritual guided message from the scriptures emphasizing some of Jesus’s sermons on the mountain explaining the welfare of those who are poor in spirit as well as those that have persecuted for the sake of God’s Righteousness.
His Honorable Chief Justice, Satiu Simativa Perese officiated the taking of the oath by the re-appointed Head of State and was witnessed by the Honorable Representative of the Council of Deputies, the Honorable Speaker as well as the Prime Minister and Cabinet and all Members of Parliament. Additionally, the Tama Aiga and Masiofo’s relatives, Constituency as well as other delegates were also given the opportunity to take part in the ceremony.
During his Excellency’s remarks, he expresses his gratitude for the continuous support of his families, constituency as well as of the nation of Samoa. And lastly expressing his acceptance, and reassurance of fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the position of Head of State for the prosperity of Samoa present and in the future.
The ceremony was concluded by the final remarks of the Deputy Speaker, Afioga AUUAPAAU Mulipola Aloitafua Mulipola on behalf of the Legislative Assembly, wishing best regards to his Highness the Head of State for the next 5 years.
